**Job **Description**

The Coordinator, Policy & Programs will support the Housing Secretariat in the development and delivery of strategies and programs to advance the progressive realization of the right to adequate housing in Toronto. This is a joint call for two positions.

One position will conduct research, analysis, and consultation, and support the development and administration of programs related to housing rights across the housing continuum. This includes supporting the administration of a new Council Advisory Body (the Housing Rights Advisory Committee) to provide advice to City Council to ensure that the interests and needs of those with living or lived experience of housing precarity, discrimination, and homelessness are reflected in City policies, programs and service delivery.

The second position will conduct research, analysis, and consultation, and support the delivery of projects that advance the City’s HousingTO Action Plan objectives related to supporting Toronto’s renters. This includes supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and programs that support housing stability for renters.

**Major **Responsibilities**- Implements detailed plans and initiatives and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.- Conducts research into assigned area of housing rights and renters’ issues, ensuring that such research takes into account developments within the field, corporate policies and practices, legislation and initiatives by other levels of government.- Supports the management and planning of stakeholder tables and advisory bodies related the progressive realization of the right to adequate housing, including Council Advisory Bodies.- Coordinates development of materials (presentations, briefing notes and reports) across teams and program areas, including to facilitate meaningful engagement with stakeholders and advisory bodies, and ensures effective channels of communication and responsiveness.- Contributes to the development and implementation of policies, programs, and projects to support delivery of the City’s HousingTO Action Plan objectives relating to the progressive realization of the right to adequate housing and to support Toronto’s renters- Develops, implements and evaluates housing rights education specific to the needs of Housing Secretariat managers and staff to supplement corporate human rights training.- Provides advice and recommendations to Housing Secretariat managers and staff on housing and human rights.- Identifies priorities and develops appropriate responses and recommendations within the division on confidential issues.- Provides strategic advice to align human rights considerations with Housing Secretariat equity and workplace diversity goals.- Deals with confidential and sensitive information affecting the division related to corporate and divisional programs, polices and strategies.- Liaises with and fosters cooperative working relationships with Housing Secretariat managers and staff, other City Divisions, Agencies, and Corporations involved in delivery of hosing policies and programs, and community partners.- Builds and maintains strong relationships among internal and external partners to ensure consultation processes and engagement are effective.- Advises and reviews Housing Secretariat programs, policies and procedures for compliance with legislative and corporate policy obligations related to anti-discrimination, access, and human rights. Liaises with management and divisional staff in the coordination and implementation of the division's various plans, policies and strategic programs.- Supports corporate communications strategies regarding City and Housing Secretariat initiatives that promote the progressive realization of the right to adequate housing in Toronto.- Maintains Housing Secretariat data on housing rights issues and/or complaints in the housing system for reporting and trend analysis.- Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.

**Key **Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function (i.e. public administration, social science, legal studies) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
