**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this position you will:

- Identify policy and planning issues and research requirements for proposed environmental policy related studies
- Review and provide comments and advice or information to ministry program staff and senior management on ministry environmental policy, program requirements, external reports and studies.
- Maintain liaison with other ministry officials, external stakeholders/agencies, interest groups and clients to discuss specific transportation topics and

issues
- Prepare policy reports, discussion papers, cabinet submissions and presentations
- Conduct or participate in several concurrent projects to provide technical direction, guidance and training to planners, Senior Policy Analysts and consultants

**How do I qualify?**:
**Technical Knowledge**:

- You have knowledge of policy development and strategic planning principles including empirical and analytical research and project design.
- You understand transportation policy and assess issues in the transportation field related to sustainable transportation and ministry priorities.

**Analytical Skills**:

- You can identify, analyze and evaluate policy/planning issues, assess implications, and develop policy options and recommendations.
- You can conduct data collection and analysis to provide evidence-based advice to senior management.

**Project Management Skills**:

- You have applied knowledge of project management methodology.
- You can conduct/participate in multiple concurrent projects, determine resource requirements and guide work of project staff to complete project deliverables within established timelines.

**Consultation and Interpersonal Skills**:

- You possess consultation and interpersonal skills to conduct consultation with stakeholders and the public, to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting and gain consensus among opposing perspectives.

**Communication and Computer Skills**:

- You have demonstrated oral and written communication skills to summarize and present research/study findings, produce reports, prepare cabinet committee materials, and provide advice to stakeholders and staff.
