Job Summary
The Manager, Employer and Alumni Engagement furthers the University s vision to support students to become career-ready graduates - able to connect their talents, interests, and education to the world of work. The Manager leads the strategic design, development, implementation, and evaluation of student mentorship networks, on-campus recruitment programs, industry and labour market awareness strategies, degree outcomes reporting, collaborative educational partnerships with alumni, employers, and organizations, and tests new models that position UBC alumni and employers more deeply as co-educators and mentors.
The incumbent contributes directly to the University s transformative learning and alumni engagement goals to (1) advance students career learning, mentorship, and professional development through work and volunteer experiences, increase exposure to industry, and facilitate meaningful engagement with UBC alumni and to (2) deepen the engagement of UBC alumni, such that students and the University benefit from their perspectives, skills, and voices.
The incumbent leads the overall strategy for (1) volunteer and employment opportunities coordinated through the Centre for Student Involvement & Careers (CSI&C) for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni; (2) internal and external employer relationships; (3) student mentorship and strategic connections between students and industry professionals (4) the implementation and strategic deployment of the CSI&C s and alumni UBC s CRM technology, and; (5) liaises with units and programs within the university to promote co-operative and collaborative communication with external employers and organizations.
Organizational Status
The Manager, Employer and Alumni Engagement is a member of the Centre for Student Involvement & Careers leadership team and a member of the alumni UBC campus based alumni management team.
The CSI&C is a hub that facilitates and enhances student learning through career-building enriched educational experiences. Through orientation and peer mentoring, the CSI&C supports new students to become successful university learners, prepared to achieve their academic, personal, and career goals. It is a central point for all graduate and undergraduate students and employers on the UBC Vancouver campus to meet, connect, network and build relationships; and to research and explore career opportunities. The CSI&C connects students to workplace learning, mentoring, volunteer and leadership opportunities; and offers career
- and employment-related services to students, academic departments, employers, and alumni.

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Student Involvement & Careers and the Director, Operations and Planning, alumni UBC, the Manager, Employer and Alumni Engagement, leads a team of employer and alumni engagement advisors, event planners, administrative staff, student workers, interns and volunteers. As a member of an integrated unit leadership team, the incumbent will oversee the CSI&C s employer and alumni engagement strategy and operations.
