Accounting Clerk and Human Resource Coordinator

Demeter Veterinary Services is currently seeking a talented individual to join our team as an Accounting Clerk and Human Resource Coordinator.
In this position, you will be responsible to help the accounting team maintain all financial aspects of the business including accounts payable/receivable, budgeting and financial reporting. You will also be in charge of all Human Resource functions for the company such as payroll, employee relations, recruitment and benefits administration.
**Responsibilities may include the following**:
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
- Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
- Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
- Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
- Daily enter key data of financial transactions using accounting software
- Provide assistance and support to company personnel
- Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
- Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
- Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
- Constantly update job knowledge
- Aid team in weekly inventory counts and assist with investigation into discrepancies
- Oversight and completion of bi-weekly payroll functions
- Oversight of staff hour records, management of overtime, maintaining transparency
- Address employee concerns and work with management on actions needed
- Maintain knowledge and update employee manual when needed
- Communicate clearly with staff on new policies or procedures and help address gaps where they are needed
- Aid in Health & Safety compliance with team members
- Manage and assessment of company needs for new employees, lead recruitment
- Maintain knowledge and oversee employee benefits program
**Qualifications**:
- Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Receivable Clerk or Accounts Payable Clerk;
- Post secondary diploma or degree in the field of basic accounting is preferred
- Proven Human Resource experience, preferably with an educational background in the field
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers
- Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

**Salary**: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
