**Job Purpose & Responsibilities**:
This is a **permanent, full-time position** of Administrative Assistant with the Department of Community Services.

Reporting to the FCSS Manager, the Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for:

- Providing telephone and counter reception.
- Processing financial transactions, and is the initial contact for all public inquiries.
- Serving as a front-line contact in providing information and resolving issues from the public and Managers, as well as dealing with questions and the administration of processes and policies.
- Facilitation, planning, and scheduling of meetings and appointments for the department.
- Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files.
- Managing projects and conducting research when necessary.

The greatest challenge of this job is to successfully manage multiple projects with extremely tight, inflexible deadlines with frequent interruptions. The Administrative Assistant will maintain a professional image both in person and on the phone

Hours of work are Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m. 35 hours per week.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Administration or related field.
- Strong customer service skills and a keen interest in assisting others.
- Strong communication, time management, computer, and organizational skills.
- The ability to deal with the public and staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Initiative to work well both independently and as a member of the team while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Must be willing to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Intervention Record, and Vulnerable Sector Check and annual Driver’s Abstract.

**Salary for this position is $29.24/hr.**
