**Position Overview**

The Research Associate will support multiple projects within the Sleep Health Services Research Program and will report to the Principal Investigator. The incumbent will be responsible for project specific and general work within the Sleep Health Services Research Program.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Project-specific Accountabilities
- Recruit primary care physicians for usability testing and interviews
- Lead usability testing for primary care clinical pathway for obstructive sleep apnea
- Conduct and analyze interviews to debrief usability testing and explore barriers and facilitators of pathway use and sleep apnea management in primary care
- Provide study PI with interpretation of usability testing results based on technical expertise
- Synthesize qualitative analysis for interpretation by study team and to support manuscript preparation
- Revise web-based clinical pathway based on results of usability testing and qualitative analysis (in partnership with pathways team)
- Project management of a randomized clinical trial embedded in a complex tertiary sleep clinic
- Recruit patients from sleep clinic for participation in a randomized clinical trial. Related tasks include establishing pre-eligibility (to be confirmed by study PI), consent, data entry into study database, weekly and monthly reporting on recruitment
- Coordination of multiple study appointments through a complex clinical process. Act as a liaison between clinical staff and study team
- Regularly engage clinic staff to ensure smooth integration of study processes into clinical operations
- Attend study visits to administer study questionnaires on day of visit
- Schedule and conduct interviews with patients
- Analysis of patient interviews, synthesize results for interpretation by study team
- Provide study team with results of qualitative data analysis
- Synthesize quantitative data including descriptive statistics, for presentation to study team and for manuscript preparation

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree with preference for training in a health-related field
- Previous experience in a health-related research or education role (minimum 3 years)
- Public sector experience within a healthcare and/or university environment is required, with expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative analysis, stakeholder engagement, research ethics, and project management
- Private sector experience is an asset for the stakeholder engagement domain of this role
- Experience working with clinicians on initiatives to improve clinical care (e.g., clinical pathways) is required
- Formal experience with usability testing is required
- Skills in website design in consideration of human factors and with a view to improving user experience is an asset
- Experience engaging with diverse sets of stakeholders, including patients, health care providers and administrators, industry representatives, and government officials, is highly desirable
- Familiarity with common diagnostic tests and treatments for sleep apnea is an asset
- Experience writing for both scientific and lay audiences is required
- Results-driven individual with a history of delivering high-quality work
- Excellent organizational skills are necessary to manage competing responsibilities
- Ability to plan, problem-solve, and organize multiple independent objectives
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to communicate effectively, both within the research team and with external partners and stakeholders
