Description

The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Associate. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This posiiton reports to the Principal Investigator.

The Research Associate will lead/support a project in the field of relationship-centred, equity-focused health care. The Research Associate should have experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, data collection, analysis. The ability to work independently is required. The applicant should also demonstrate strong communication, collaborative, analytical, and organizational skills. The Research Associate will lead/collaborate on publications within the field of the research.

This is a recurring part-time position. Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Principal Investigator and support the research team through working to support qualitative and quantitative data collection
  • Responsible for developing interviews, recording, coding, and analyzing data
  • Under general supervision & direction of the PI, develop and implement original scientific inquires within the guidelines of the research
  • Conduct literature review, surveys, participant interviews and other research for us in scholarly publications when required to
  • Establish and maintain effective, productive relationships with staff, peers, immediate supervisor and senior management and with the campus community
  • Manage own time effectively and ensures immediate reports to manager is kept informed of activities, and progress of work
  • Understanding of safety codes, standards, and systems related to specialization
  • Exercises expert judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Requires significant problem-solving expertise and analytical thinking
  • Provides support in solving highly complex issues

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • PhD in health-related field
  • 5-7 years of related research experience required
  • Experience in health services research, ideally with experience in both quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Experience in systematic reviews and advanced literature searching skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, collaborative skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
  • Build strong collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
  • Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
  • WHMIS
  • Requires complex, conceptual, and practical expertise in own discipline and knowledge of related disciplines
