Position Summary

Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta is looking for an Interim Executive Director (Maternity Leave Coverage) who can sustain the entire operation of our organization in the following areas:

  • finance and resource mobilization
  • program development and delivery oversight
  • strategic management, governance support and board relations
  • human resources management
  • communications, stakeholder engagement and community leadership
  • general administrations and risk management

The ideal candidate for this role would be an adaptable and proactive professional with a track record of direct experience in the abovementioned areas in the non-profit industry, who demonstrates humbleness and shares our mission and vision.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Interim Executive Director – Maternity Leave Coverage is responsible for sustaining existing day-to-day operations of Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta in multi-faceted functions, including but not limited to:

Finance and Resource Mobilization

  • Maintain healthy organizational finance and resource development to ensure that the organization is viable and effective.
  • Ensure adequate systems of control and financial accounting in accordance with a recognized system of accounting.
  • Manage grants writing and reporting.
  • Oversee planning and execution of fundraisers. li>

Program Development and Delivery Oversight

  • Oversee program implementation and overall delivery management per program to ensure expected outcomes are achieved against objectives, indicators, and cash flows.
  • Ensure that programs are diversified, innovative, intentional, research-based, preventative, holistic, context-specific, age-appropriate, barrier-free and transformational by partnering with school boards and community organizations – including youth centres, BIPOC advocates and subject matter experts.
  • Oversee and ensure monthly program reporting as well as annual reporting are completed in a timely manner with quality.

Strategic Management, Governance Support and Board Relations

  • Ensure coordination and alignment of all Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta organizational activities to strategic direction.
  • Implement all policies approved by the Board of Directors in the administration of the entire organization and its operations.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and assess staff regularly with respect to performance and expectations to improve individual and organizational performance.

Communications, Stakeholder Engagement and Community Leadership

  • Deliver quality written communications, grant applications, and publicly issued statements that are generally free from errors.
  • Represent Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta independently when meeting with stakeholders, community leaders, influencers, donors, etc.
  • Communicate with Girls Inc. Ensure to get the local affiliate voice heard in close collaboration with other Canadian Affiliates. Relay messages from Girls Inc. National to staff, Board of Directors, and community stakeholders.

General Administrations and Risk Management

  • Ensure that the organizational operation meets the expectations of its members, the Board of Directors, donors and the community.
