Infrastructure Operations Director

Fort McKay First Nation is seeking a seasoned Executive Director, Infrastructure to lead our infrastructure department and drive strategic growth.
About the RoleThis full-time position reports directly to the CEO and requires 75 hours of work per bi-weekly cycle. As an Executive Director, you will provide leadership and advice to Directors in FMFN's internally facing Infrastructure in areas including Housing, Public Works, Major Projects.
- Cultivate strong relationships with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief and Council, and leaders, ensuring they are informed about key performance outcomes, risks, and recommendations for changes, program and service delivery growth, budget adjustments, and policy establishment/amendments.
- Provide guidance and direction to directors, managers, and project teams to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
- Coach and mentor staff to build understanding of the Fort McKay First Nation community, its residents, their roles, and departmental roles in contributing to plans and First Nation leadership direction.
- Establish effective decision-making processes to achieve long-term and short-term goals and objectives.
- Oversee the financial status of the division's long-term and short-term financial plans, monitoring the budget, and ensuring sound financial controls are in place.
- Support the strategic organizational planning process for the betterment of FMFN.
- Communicate results of analysis and recommendations for continuous improvement to executives and Chief & Council as needed.
- Degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field.
- Previous project management and construction experience required.
- Regional site experience preferred.
- Fifteen years of well-rounded and progressive experience in a related field with senior leadership level background, including a minimum of 10 years of management and leadership experience.
- Experience to include organization management with focus on providing strategic support, staff mentorship, and coaching, and managing several corporate service disciplines.
- Knowledge of applicable processes, service delivery models, best practices, legislation, and regulations relating to corporate services disciplines.
- Ability to speak, read, and write Cree and/or Dene considered an asset.
- Extensive experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and values.
- Valid class 5 Driver's License and Clean Driver's Abstract required.
- Successful candidate will be required to live in (or relocate to) Fort McMurray, Alberta.
