Financial Director for Aboriginal Business

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Financial Director to lead our finance department and play a key role in the day-to-day administrative operations of our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting, budgeting, cash flow, banking and reporting functions.
- Ensure financial objectives are realized through responsible and transparent financial practices.
- Manage accounting and finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure integrity of financial information and compliance with regulatory organizations.
- Drive continual enhancements within financial systems and processes.
- Represent the company's interests with lenders, investors, partners, and other external entities.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report on prevention of fraud and other financial risks.
- Identify and manage company liability and insurance requirements.
- Manage or oversee the relationship with independent auditors.
- Plan, coordinate, and control activities within Shared Services.
- Meet regularly with department heads/business unit leaders; facilitate resolution of issues/problems between business units and/or departments in relation to budgets.
Requirements:
- University degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance; or MBA.
- CPA or CMA designation required.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a large organization in progressively more responsible positions.
- Effective leadership skills, with strong focus on mentoring and motivation of professional employees.
- Demonstrated ability to manage key constituent relationships, including customers, business partners, government agencies.
- Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal and external challenges or obstacles.
- Clear understanding of organizational issues.
- Strong knowledge of fiscal management and responsibility, business finance, capital funding, contracts, partnerships.
- Working knowledge of Indigenous culture, including relevant legislation, experience working with ISC (Indigenous Services Canada).
- Knowledge of personnel policies, practices, and procedures.
- Effective attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- Solid analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Experience creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed organization.
- Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
