Location: Toronto, ON (Remote with occasional in-person meetings)

Travel Requirement: International travel approx. two (2) months throughout the year.

Legacy+ is seeking a professional, strategic, and detail-oriented  Donor Engagement Manager,  to join its Operations team. The incumbent will report directly to the Head of Operations. The role is responsible for recruiting prospective donors and engaging and retaining a portfolio of existing donors, while ensuring overall satisfaction and a positive experience through relationship building and consistent communication, supporting fundraising and networking events, and providing accurate and detailed updates and reports.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Donor Stewardship and Retention:

  • Steward the engagement of a portfolio of annual donors, general donors and monthly donors, ensuring a compelling donor experience and ongoing contributions.
  • Develop strategic donor engagement pathways to ensure the successful retention of each donor, including deepened commitment, where possible.
  • Fulfill our commitments to donors, seeing that all aspects are carried out, including preparing donor updates and reports.
  • Provide support to third-party events and fundraisers hosted by donors, including in person attendance and public speaking.
  • Ensure donor satisfaction through responsiveness to inquiries, with prompt and effective problem-solving.

Donor Recruitment:

  • Receive and respond to new donor leads with the aim of securing donations.
  • Proactively identify prospective donors, carry out background research, and devise an appropriate manner of engaging them.
  • Attend and represent the organization at fundraising and networking events with the aim of identifying additional prospective donors.

Administration:

  • Carry out administrative responsibilities related to the management of your portfolio of donors, including diligent maintenance of donor records.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate records of projected and actual financial information.
  • Possibility of managing one direct report.

Qualifications/Skills/Competencies

  • Minimum 3-5 years professional work experience in a fundraising role (or related).
  • Proactive fundraiser with a proven track record of revenue generation.
  • Experience using CRM such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge an asset.
  • Quick learner with exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage high volume inquiries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, research and strategy, and networking skills.
  • Excellent administrative and communication skills.
  • Comfortable making donation asks and responding to incoming inquiries.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and remain solutions-driven.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong public speaking skills (or willing to develop).
  • Knowledgeable of basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and financial software.
  • Excellent professional correspondence skills.
  • Required travel with valid passport and driver’s license.
