St. Michael's Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is the exclusive fundraising organization to generate and manage philanthropic funds for St. Michael¿s Hospital and Providence Healthcare, within Unity Health Toronto. Through multiple lines of fundraising income generation and stewardship activity, SMHF, in conjunction with Unity Health, will define and promote the St. Michael's and Providence brands to maximize philanthropic revenue to fuel their healthcare, research, teaching and health equity missions. The Director, Stewardship and Donor Relations will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive stewardship and recognition program across all business units and fundraising programs within St. Michael's Foundation. The Director, Stewardship and Donor Relations will also work in conjunction with the Vice President, Donor Experience and Chief of Staff, to develop and implement an organization-wide donor experience philosophy, and the accompanying tools, systems and processes required.

**RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES**

**Stewardship and Donor Relations Activities**:
Development of a strategic plan that provides a comprehensive and integrated set of stewardship and donor relations activities to meet the needs of fundraising programs across St. Michael's Foundation. Activities include:
Build a Foundation-wide set of core recognition and stewardship activities, tools, and offerings to ensure timely, meaningful stewardship is delivered to all donors, regardless of giving channel and level;
Work collaboratively with Foundation Vice-Presidents and their teams to develop appropriate donor journeys that meet the specific needs of each revenue channel;
Collaboratively with the Vice President, Donor Experience and Chief of Staff, develop and maintain current and relevant Board Policies to govern stewardship, recognition and donor relations, to be approved by the Board;
Oversee the gift agreement process and its translation to customized stewardship plans;
Monitor and oversee the project management of stewardship plans and ensure transparent accountability to donors through good governance of gifts at all levels and compliance with terms of gift agreements;
Ensure processes are in place for the timely preparation, review and delivery of financial reports to donors of endowed funds held by the Foundation, working in conjunction with the Finance Department;
Oversee the impact reporting process and ensure delivery of timely, consistent and appropriate donor impact reports;
Strategic development of recognition and naming opportunities;
Develop an approval process for appropriate naming opportunities, and the inventory of opportunities available and committed;
Strategic collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team at the Foundation and Hospital for promotion and public announcements of significant gifts to St. Michael's Hospital and Providence Healthcare;
Strategic collaboration with Foundation Events team (Events Services) on design and delivery of donor recognition and stewardship events; and,

Continually seek innovation through the ongoing evaluation of St. Michael's Foundation donor relations programs against industry standards.

**Donor Experience Activities**:
In conjunction with the Vice President, Donor Experience and Chief of Staff:
Perform an audit of organizational processes, systems and policies, as they relate to the donor experience;
Develop and implement solutions to ensure a seamless and frictionless experience for St. Michael¿s Foundation donors;
Create consistent, appropriate and equitable donor journeys based on primary donor research and secondary industry research in order to create meaningful, long-term donor relationships;
**Leadership**:
Lead and mentor the Stewardship and Donor Relations team, and impart a strong customer service orientation;
Responsibility for hiring and managing staff positions within the Stewardship and Donor Relations portfolio including recruiting, orienting, training, setting objectives, monitoring performance and encouraging professional development;
Responsibility for budget planning and management for Stewardship and Donor Relations portfolio;
Ensure that our Donor Management System (Raiser's Edge) is fully utilized to effectively enter, track and retrieve stewardship and donor relations information;
Commit to ongoing professional development through reading current literature, attending professional meetings, participating in professional associations and developing working relationships with professionals at other institutions;
