HR Generalist - Manufacturing

We are looking for the right person to take on this vital role in the organization. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources and partnering very closely with the Operations leadership teams in our Cornwall manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for managing day to day HR related matters including talent acquisition, policy follow-through, employee relations, and performance management. This position provides support to employees on a variety of Human Resources functions. What we offer:

  • Competitive Salary $60,000.00 per year
  • Standard working hours are 8.30 am to 5 pm
  • 3 Week Vacation to start.

What you do:

  • Build and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders within client groups and provide assistance in HR related matters.
  • Work with the Director, Human Resources, the HR team, and business leaders to ensure that programs and policies are aligned with the overall strategic direction.
  • Coordinate, administer and facilitate the performance management and talent management for employees.
  • Support the implementation of HR strategies, policies, procedures, and programs to support continued growth and retention.
  • Answer questions from management and employees on various HR matters and escalate serious and higher-level matters to Director of HR.
  • Handle day to day employee/labor relations, including resolving complaints and taking disciplinary actions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Provide assistance and support with benefits administration related questions and concerns.
  • Responsible for recruitment of hourly and salaried personnel and provide onboarding support to hiring managers.
  • Assist in executing various HR initiatives, including providing suggestions on process improvements.
  • Support and organize corporate events including Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
  • Other HR projects as assigned by Management.

Who You Are:

  • A diploma/degree in Human Resources; CHRP or pursuing CHRP certification is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Practical HR role
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing sector/industry.
  • Solid understanding of Employment Standards, Human Rights, and Labour laws required.
  • Strong business sense
  • Excellent communication skills along with proven problem-solving ability.
  • Outcome-driven, self-motivated with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Superior cooperation and teamwork skills with the ability to quickly adapt to changing organizational needs.
