POSITION

The Human Resources Manager acts as a trusted advisor for a portfolio of Canadian business units across all aspects of HR and leads a small HR Team responsible for supporting the business needs as it relates to employee relations, recruitment, retention, compensation, talent review, organization design, resource planning, learning, career development, policy, and compliance. The Human Resources Manager leads and directs the people management-related agenda in the organization. This position leads change management projects and manages HR-related internal and external communication. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and partners closely with senior leadership and management teams in the portfolio, as well as other portfolio HR teams in North America. As a member of the global HR management team, the individual actively supports discussions, shares information, and transfers/promotes best practices across the organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The core responsibilities of the position are to:

  1. Support and direct full cycle Recruitment and New Hire Orientation processes;
  2. Ensure compliance with corporate policy and all federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations to protect the business and its employees;
  3. Recommend and communicate new approaches, policies, and procedures to leadership teams and employees alike;
  4. Support the Talent Management processes (objective setting, performance, learning, development, succession planning & DEI initiatives) to ensure that employees’ level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards;
  5. Serve as the primary point of contact for due diligence of target acquisitions and integration of acquisitions within the Canadian portfolio of businesses;
  6. Motivate others to want to do their best; manage their development including individual and team goals, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and planning;
  7. Ensure the timely and accurate update of employee data in the Workday HRIS system to ensure appropriate administration of employee compensation, benefits, payroll, and other programs;
  8. Build strong business relationships and partnerships with internal clients to effectively support the talent strategy of the business;
  9. Collect and analyze HR data to measure the efficacy of the team and make improvements to HR services and processes as necessary;
  10. Work remotely with as much effectiveness in managing staff and issues as if onsite;
  11. Travel from time to time; and
  12. Other HR-related projects, such as measuring the efficacy of current and new initiatives as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  4. Ability to manage and measure the work of your team, setting clear goals and objectives.
  5. Working knowledge of applications such as Workday and MS Office, with a high level of ability in Excel and a passion for metrics-based reporting and management.
  6. Strong knowledge of local, provincial, and federal employment laws and regulations and experience with employee relations issues.
  7. Comfortable with change; able to make decisions and act without having the total picture; comfortable with ambiguity.
  8. Enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts.
  9. Strong drive for results; steadfastly pushes self and others for results.
  10. Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  11. High level of integrity, honesty, and sound judgment.
  12. Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions process and HR involvement.
  13. Ability to empower others, sharing ownership and visibility.
  14. 4-7 years of experience at the Generalist level with a focus on employee relations, and managing multi-location facilities.
  15. 2-3 years of experience managing others, mentoring and coaching.
  16. Previous experience in the technology industry with high volumes of activity.
  17. Previous experience supporting large matrixed organizations.
