Job Description:

*Onsite or Remote - 6 Month Fixed Term Contract Role*

PURPOSE OF POSITION

As a member of the Public Affairs Team, you will plan and coordinate the delivery of French language translation services for FSRA and will provide project management/coordination and administrative support services to the Public Affairs Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acting as liaison on all translation matters between stakeholders, suppliers and external translation service provider.

  • Reviewing completed translated materials to ensure translation accurately reflects the content and tone of the original and the reading level is appropriate for the intended audience.

  • Recommending new/revised procedures, processes, translation tools, products and performance reporting mechanisms.

  • Providing administrative assistance in support of Public Affairs project management initiatives including developing project lists; monitoring and reporting on project progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of government processes and practices for corporate level translation services and experience in planning and coordinating the delivery of translation services is preferred but not mandatory

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies and standards related to translation services is a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of French language usage and translation practices to compile materials for translation and to brief translators on requirements is a plus.

  • Proven knowledge of organizational and planning techniques to coordinate and prioritize work to ensure that deadlines are met.

Skills

  • Proven superior oral and written proficiency in French and English is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Demonstrated administrative skills to support project management initiatives, and coordinate project tracking, reporting and performance.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to liaise with senior officials and staff of all levels on translation issues.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills to identify, investigate and assess resolve outstanding problems with translations.
