Translation Specialist

Reporting to the Manager, French Language Service (FLS), The Translation Specialist manages all translation requests from LCBO clients using a pool of external vendors and translates/reviews timely requests to ensure fast turnaround time. The Translation Specialist provides guidance to external vendors to ensure consistent quality translations.

About the Role
- Coordinate LCBO client's translation requests with a pool of external translators (VOR)
- Advise clients on processes and workflows for new and ongoing projects.
- Act as strategic and project lead for the implementation of new technology-based solutions to improve translation management efficiency.
- Provide guidance to external translators and LCBO clients on matters of French translation, conduct terminology research and update on an ongoing basis the French Language Service terminology database.
- Ensure translation quality and uniformity of style and language by reviewing the work of external translatorsand bringing up points requiring improvement to the attention of the Senior translator.
- Provide quick turnaround translation services for last-minute or rush requests.
- Liaise with the OPS network of translators and linguistic advisors to clarify appropriate terminology when required and keep informed on changes or new trends in translation best practices.
- Provide support to French Language Services manager in the implementation of all French Language Services initiatives.
- Manage Food & Drink magazine subscription database
- Perform other duties as required.

About You
- University degree in Translation or in a related field
- 3+ years’ experience as a translator in the field of corporate and marketing translation
- Strong evaluative and management skills to determine the requirements for each client's translation request and assign it to the most qualified translator, prioritize assignments, and handle last-minute changes.
- Specialized knowledge in the field of food and alcohol beverages and strong interest in building this expertise
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish a solid and positive working relationship with translation vendors and LCBO internal clients.
- Demonstrated organization and time management.
- Capacity to perform terminology research
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word).
- Proficient knowledge of assisted translation tools (especially MemoQ and machine translation).
