Description: The Transmission Calibration Engineer will be responsible for playing an integral part in developing the customer driving experience as well as optimizing fuel economy. The Transmission Calibrator will work on transmission clutch control and/or drive strategy calibration related activities. The responsibilities can include developing methodologies and tools to support analysis and verification, delivery of high quality calibrations from start to finish of new programs, developing and calibrating/validating new features, working with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure that program requirements are met on time, supporting test trips to verify proper transmission operation across operating conditions, as well as troubleshooting and developing solutions to issues as they occur. This position will work with in-vehicle test instrumentation, ETAS-INCA calibration tools, and mathematical analysis tools such as Matlab to meet objectives. The transmission calibration team is one of the last teams to put hands on a product prior to going to customers. As such, transmission calibration engineers tend to have some of the largest impact directly on the product, and usually very quickly. Projects frequently occur with a timeline in days or weeks rather than months or years. Having an instant and measurable impact on products is all part of a typical workday.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  1. Developing methodologies and tools to support analysis and verification
  2. Delivery of high quality calibrations from start to finish of new programs
  3. Developing and calibrating/validating new features
  4. Working with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure that program requirements are met on time
  5. Troubleshooting and developing solutions to issues as they occur

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or automotive engineering from an ABET accredited program
  2. One year of experience in automotive engineering
  3. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  4. Experience with Matlab scripting and other useful data processing languages/tool sets e.g., Python, JavaScript/NodeJS, etc.
  5. English: Advanced
  6. Experience with Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets)
  7. Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
  8. Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
  9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  10. Good interpersonal relationship skills
  11. Ability to work as a team
  12. Conflict and crisis management

Preferred Requirements:

  1. Experience with powertrain systems
  2. Experience with powertrain calibration is a plus
  3. Database management of production calibrations
  4. Demonstrated ability to drive improvements based on customer feedback
  5. Knowledge of statistics and statistical methods
  6. Knowledge of software and equipment for calibration, measurement, and analysis (Inca-Etas / Horiba)
  7. Knowledge of the dyno environment and tools related to it, such as: Puma, Cameo, Indicom, Concerto
  8. Experience with Formula SAE

Additional Must Haves:

  1. Occasional travel to US for meetings (Occasional meaning two times per month)
  2. Driving a Stellantis vehicle required
  3. Must work out of the Automotive Research Development Center in Windsor, Ontario, at least days per week
