Safety Specialist

Job Title: Safety Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors, and clients on our construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with craft employees to encourage buy-in of our safety program and support craft ownership of the safety program
  • Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, work plans, and detailed work plans
  • Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work
  • Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staff and craft employees to execute the Site-Specific Safety Plan
  • Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Assist with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions
  • Complete daily documented hazard inspections and assist operations, craft, and subcontractors with implementation of corrective actions
  • Review work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans prior to the start of work
  • Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, and client-specific requirements
Requirements:
  • Ability to travel and relocate as required
  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study
  • Minimum 2-5 years of safety experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of Federal and OSHA requirements
  • Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Other Requirements:
  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively, understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines, work overtime and weekends as required
