Job Summary

3sHealth is seeking an inspiring Continuous Improvement Specialist to teach, coach and support leaders and their teams as they build their people, manage daily operations and improve service. Reporting to the Director, Continuous Improvement, the specialist is part of a cohesive team that provides integrated services in improvement leadership training and support, performance measurement, strategic planning and patient engagement. This is a fantastic growth opportunity for a leader looking to broaden their skills and expand their exposure to multiple levels of leadership and management system methods.

Responsibilities include:
1. Serves as a Continuous Improvement Specialist, demonstrating growing competence in successful process improvements by using, modeling and coaching on the proper use of improvement methods in a range of settings. Success is measured through consistent use of the methodologies, tangible results and measurable improvements to team processes and service outcomes as a result of the advice and support provided by the Continuous Improvement Specialist.

2. Works with 3sHealth leaders and provincial partners to improve processes and outcomes by providing advice, education and hands-on assistance in planning and leading improvement activities to achieve 3sHealth's corporate strategic targets and broader health system goals.

3. As part of a cohesive team that maintains and improves an integrated 3sHealth management system (including improvement methodologies, performance measurement, improvement leader training, critical incident reporting, and patient engagement), takes on assigned leadership roles for maintaining, improving various corporate standards in alignment with evolving health system best practices.

4. Supports leaders with effective use of 3sHealth's performance measurement system to manage daily work, plan and measure improvement, and contribute to corporate targets in quality improvements for patients and providers (lives impacted) and health system savings.

5. Works closely with provincial and internal service line leaders to identify patient engagement needs and to then recruit, orient, monitor and track patient participation across the organization. Encourages leaders to engage patients in the identification, implementation and measurement of patient-centred improvements.

Experience

  • At least three years' health system experience, preferably in one or more of the following: improvement leadership, performance analysis, business analysis, strategic planning, patient/family-centred care, project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Business, Administration, Project Management, or related field;
  • Lean Improvement Leader Training (LILT) or other Lean certification complete or underway.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience leading and supporting improvement planning and initiatives is required. Must be willing to be certified through the Saskatchewan Healthcare Management system and maintain certification.
  • Ability to use detailed data analysis to measure performance, define problems, and set targets to inform project planning to outcomes reporting, and train others to do the same.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and confidently with all levels of the organization, health system partners and patients and families, using skill and courage to develop and maintain standard work and achieve strong results.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness to provide exceptional quality service to clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of process and organizational skill with an eye for detail. Must demonstrate interest and ability to learn and then teach/coach acquired skills to team leaders, team champions and staff engaged in improvement training and workshops.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo, maintain standard work, deal constructively with potential resulting conflict, understand provincial and organizational strategies and articulate its goals.
