Position Overview

The Specialist functions as a member of the operations team, reporting to the leadership of the site/service provider. She/he is responsible for leadership, consultation and coordination of activities related to health services delivery standards and policy. She/he will play a lead role in supporting operational initiatives as required. She/he liaises and develops effective and collaborative working relationships with local, regional, and provincial stakeholders to enable better integration of services.

The incumbent is accountable for the following key functions and responsibilities:

  • Support operational delivery of health services as directed 25%.
  • Work with regional leads and liaisons to ensure effective operations and troubleshoot on behalf of health services leaders 30%.
  • Developing consultative relationships 25%.
  • Writing, reporting and communications 20%.
Experience
  • 4 years' experience in a health-related setting.
  • Experience in and knowledge of principles and techniques of research and analysis, with the ability to apply to program and policy evaluation.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, standards, protocols and/or frameworks.
  • Experience in navigating and acting as a liaison with internal (i.e. Occupational & Environmental Safety & Health (OESH), Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C), etc.) and external agencies to support operational processes and delivery related to staff safety, accreditation standards and new evolving challenged (i.e. pandemic planning and roll-out, etc.).
  • Experience in reviewing core messaging/content created by educator/communications personnel.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary degree in the health or social sciences field required.
  • Master's degree in health, social sciences or administrative field preferred.
  • Knowledge of primary care trends, issues and strategies preferred.
  • Knowledge of chronic disease trends, issues and strategies preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Active member of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to take initiative that demonstrates innovation.
  • Ability to develop effective collaborative and consultative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of change management principles.
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent written communications skills with the ability to write high level documentation.
  • Understanding of roles and responsibilities within different sectors of the health care system.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be willing to work some flexible hours.
  • Some travel within the province and across Canada may be required.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
