Director, Research Administration and Operations
CancerCare Manitoba is a provincial agency that provides clinical and academic services and leadership for cancer control and the treatment of blood disorders. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as Director, Research Administration and Operations.
About the Role
The Director, Research Administration and Operations will have overall responsibility for the coordination, administration and operations of CancerCare Manitoba's cancer and blood disorder research projects and programs. This includes working closely with researchers, managers and administrative officers to ensure all research projects and clinical trials are aligned with our cancer and blood disorders research priorities and are successfully managed and monitored.
Key Responsibilities
- Directing CCMB research administration and operations, working closely with Managers and research and administrative officers
- Ensuring all research projects and clinical trials are aligned with CCMB cancer and blood disorders research priorities
- Working closely with researchers to encourage, facilitate, support and coordinate research projects
- Developing and implementing strategic initiatives and change management
Qualifications
- Master's level degree in a health or science-related discipline
- 7 years of experience working in a research/medical laboratory or other research environment
- 7 years of experience working collaboratively within a team environment with proven success through strong leadership and the building of collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- 5 years of demonstrated experience developing/conceptualizing, implementing and monitoring strategic initiatives or change management
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent risk mitigation and problem-solving skills
- Strong business acumen including finance and budgeting
- An understanding of necessary legal and regulatory documents related to research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and formulate recommendations to senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate level degree in a health- or science-related discipline
- Master of Business Administration, or equivalent
- Experience managing laboratory and/or research operations in a healthcare facility
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings
- Must be able to lift and carry items
- Interruptions to respond to questions are common; incumbent can schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration
Other Requirements
- Must have satisfactory employment record
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
- Ability to speak French
