Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our research administration and operations team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the coordination, administration, and operations of our cancer and blood disorder research projects and programs.
  • Work closely with researchers to encourage, facilitate, support, and coordinate research projects.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive research excellence and innovation.
  • Lead a team of research and administrative officers to ensure the successful management and monitoring of research projects and clinical trials.
Qualifications
  • Master's level degree in a health or science-related discipline.
  • 7 years of experience working in a research/medical laboratory or other research environment.
  • 7 years of experience working collaboratively within a team environment with proven success through strong leadership and the building of collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience developing/conceptualizing, implementing and monitoring strategic initiatives or change management.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent risk mitigation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen including finance and budgeting.
  • An understanding of necessary legal and regulatory documents related to research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare various documents/reports and deliver presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and formulate recommendations to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate level degree in a health- or science-related discipline.
  • Master of Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing laboratory and/or research operations in a healthcare facility.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and able to lift and carry items.
  • Interruptions to respond to questions are common; incumbent can schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration.
  • The position holder may require a valid Manitoba driver's license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel to sites where public transport is not available.
Other Requirements
  • Must have satisfactory employment record.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
  • Ability to speak French.
