Job Summary:
CancerCare Manitoba is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director, Research Administration and Operations. As a key member of the research team, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, administering, and operating cancer and blood disorder research projects and programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage research administration and operations, working closely with managers and research officers to ensure alignment with research priorities and successful project management.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve research operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with researchers to encourage, facilitate, and support research projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
- Develop and manage budgets, financial reports, and other administrative tasks related to research operations.
- Provide leadership and guidance to research staff, ensuring a high level of professionalism and expertise in research administration.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a health or science-related discipline.
- 7 years of experience working in a research or medical laboratory environment, with a proven track record of leadership and collaboration.
- Excellent risk mitigation and problem-solving skills, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance.
- Strong business acumen, including finance and budgeting, with the ability to develop and manage budgets and financial reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and deliver presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate-level degree in a health or science-related discipline.
- Master of Business Administration or equivalent.
- Experience managing laboratory and/or research operations in a healthcare facility.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings.
- Ability to lift and carry items.
- Interruptions to respond to questions are common; incumbent can schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration.
