Job Description:

Description: The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the implementation and execution of all actions required to maintain and enhance the quality and food safety programs (Environmental Monitoring Program, Cleaning and Sanitation Effectiveness, Gluten Free) throughout the manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for ensuring that products are within specification, and that our process is in compliance with our Food Safety and Quality programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct verifications of food safety and regulatory compliance programs to ensure Quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all departments are being followed.
• Aseptically collect environmental, sanitation effectiveness, ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) and allergen swabs, including sample collection, documentation, and packaging for laboratory analysis.
• Perform microbiological, allergen protein testing and documentation of results. Determine and implement corrective actions if deviations occur.
• Performs GMP of the facility, communicates results and follows-up completion of corrective actions.
• Review CoA of received ingredient, assess for completeness and compliance to regulatory, microbiological, chemical, and physical requirements.
• Coordinate samples required to be sent to sales and customers involving preparation and documentation.
• Participate in Investigation of consumer/customer complaints and provides professionally acceptable written resolution as needed to the Divisional FS&Q group and Customers.
• Provide FS&Q support with Regulatory audits, 3rd party Inspections, division audits, product inspection at 3rd party facility and Customer visits when necessary.
• Represent the plant's FS&Q group as needed on special projects, process improvement efforts and supplier initiatives.
• Perform other administrative duties.

Qualifications:

• A degree and/or diploma in a Sciences Program is preferred.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques, chemistry, microbiology, math and basic computer skills.
• 2-3 years in a quality function within the Food & Beverage industry is an asset.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, sanitation principles and safe handling of chemicals.
• Must be able to multitask and work well under demanding situations.
• Possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Possess sound judgement.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
