Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work in our Parks, Recreation and Culture division, contributing to the development of a healthier and more active community. As a Recreation Facility Clerk, you will play a key role in advancing our customer service goals, providing outstanding support to our diverse community, and ensuring service excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
  • Provide accurate information, advice, and referrals regarding parks, recreation, sport, arts, culture, and heritage program opportunities
  • Participate in planning, organizing, delivering, promoting, and evaluating activities and services within a recreational facility and/or Registration Call Centre
  • Plan, schedule, assign, mentor, and provide direction and guidance to staff
  • Lead and/or support the functional aspects of the Recreation and Facility Booking System and other system functions
  • Lead and/or support recruitment and training of auxiliary attendants
  • Perform a variety of clerical, typing/word processing, time keeping, receptionist, and cashiering activities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to courteously and effectively deal with the public in providing information and assistance
  • Ability to provide effective customer service and use appropriate tact to discuss problems
  • Ability to perform cashiering duties accurately
  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to others by assigning tasks and allocating work
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands, work well under pressure, and deal with stressful situations professionally
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to compose various types of standard and non-standard correspondence and reports
  • Ability to provide guidance and resolution to Registration Call Centre staff on point of sale, facility booking, online registration, and programming concerns
  • Ability to configure the Recreation and Facility Booking Software to meet the needs of the organization
  • Ability to work both independently and interdependently while exercising sound judgment and initiative
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of groups, businesses, and association members
  • Knowledge of clerical and record-keeping procedures
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and math
  • Knowledge and skill in using City computer applications such as PeopleSoft (HCM), Xplor, Outlook, and Microsoft programs
Qualifications and Experience

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by computer and keyboarding skills or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment. May encounter a variety of customers and/or challenging situations.
