Position Overview

The role of a Recreational Therapy Assistant involves providing essential support in therapeutic settings, particularly within nursing homes and facilities for the elderly. This permanent position requires a commitment of 8 to 35 hours per week and is conducted in English.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in a relevant field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 months experience in a similar role.
Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a nursing home or a similar care facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer tests utilizing specialized equipment, guiding patients through procedures, recording outcomes, and ensuring proper calibration of auditory devices.
  • Support healthcare professionals in delivering patient care.
  • Implement treatment plans as directed by physiotherapists and occupational therapists to aid in the rehabilitation of patients.
  • Create informational materials tailored for patient understanding.
  • Monitor and document patient progress throughout rehabilitation.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies necessary for therapy sessions.
  • Conduct general clerical tasks to support operational efficiency.
  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities for patients.
Certifications

Possession of a CPR Certificate is required.
