Position Overview

The Recreational Therapy Support Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in care facilities. This position involves working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to implement and monitor therapeutic recreation programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work Schedule: Permanent position with flexible hours ranging from 8 to 35 hours per week.
  • Language of Work: English
  • Educational Requirements: Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in a relevant field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 months of relevant experience.
Work Environment

This role is primarily set in a nursing home or senior care facility, where the individual will be engaged in various therapeutic activities aimed at rehabilitation.

Core Duties
  • Administer assessments using specialized equipment, guiding patients through procedures and documenting outcomes.
  • Support healthcare professionals in delivering patient care.
  • Implement treatment plans as directed by physiotherapists and occupational therapists to assist patients in their recovery.
  • Create informative materials tailored for patient education.
  • Monitor and document the progress of patient rehabilitation.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies necessary for recreational activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate recreational programs.
  • Perform general administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • Certifications: CPR Certification is mandatory.
  • Specialization: Focus on recreational therapy.
