Learning & Development Specialist

About Us: Closer to Home Community Services (CTH) is a charitable organization located in Calgary, AB since 1995. CTH provides a wide range of services designed to meet the unique needs of children, youth and families.

About the Position: In this permanent, Full-Time position the Learning & Development Specialist (LDS) will work collaboratively with all CTH Departments and Programs to deliver training to ensure all employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform their job functions. The LDS will track required courses, organize and deliver mandated and elective sessions as needed to comply with program/dept. needs and standards.

Along with the Leadership team, the LDS will participate in identifying themes, trends or training gaps to ensure continuous quality improvement in the training delivered. The LDS will take a lead in creating meaningful and relevant training sessions and procure outside trainings as required.

About You: You are a self-motivated individual with the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. You are extremely detail oriented, able to work independently and are highly organized, allowing you to effectively manage multiple priorities. You are adaptable and can adjust to shifting priorities as needed. You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds. You are culturally competent and able to conduct yourself in a manner which is respectful and encouraging of the cultural/spiritual beliefs and practices of others.

A Diploma or Degree in Human Services, Education or a related field, plus a minimum of one year of previous experience in a similar role is preferred. Relevant experience with the Teaching-Family Model is considered an asset. The successful candidate must demonstrate competency in adult learning principles as well as have experience with conducting competency-based training workshops. The successful candidate will possess strong group management skills and the ability to give and receive strength-based developmental feedback to enhance understanding, learning and retention. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Workspaces Suite (Gmail) and Adobe. A Police Information Check and an Intervention Record Check must be completed upon hire.
