About the Role

BMO is seeking a highly skilled Risk Management and Financial Planning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Corporate Treasury department, you will play a critical role in identifying, measuring, and mitigating liquidity and funding risks across the bank's balance sheet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with businesses and finance teams to evaluate the potential impact of stress scenarios on the bank's balance sheet, funding capability, and liquidity position.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of liquidity stress testing programs, addressing issues and implementing enhancements as needed.
  • Participate in enhancement projects to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and control of stress testing programs.
  • Recommend and implement liquidity and funding solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Support the development and execution of the bank's liquidity and funding risk management strategy for executive and Board approval.
  • Develop processes to identify, measure, and manage liquidity and funding risks in conjunction with Market Risk Management and other finance areas.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business groups on liquidity and funding matters, including recovery and resolution planning.
  • Develop and maintain the model and assumption framework used to measure liquidity and funding risk, recommending changes as needed.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making and understand risk drivers.
  • Recommend and implement solutions based on risk assessments, analysis of issues, and implications for the business.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders, including industry specialty groups and regulators, to align agendas and ensure a clear understanding of the business context.
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of liquidity and funding risk modeling activities and programs.
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and streamlined reporting.
  • Gather and format data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Monitor and track balance sheet usage, addressing any issues as needed.
  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Analyze data and information to provide insights into business product pricing and funds transfer pricing processes.
  • Support the development and execution of liquidity and funding-related strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Typically between 5-7 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency of financial products gained through extensive education and/or business experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in financial modeling, including Excel, PowerBI, and SQL. SAS, R, Python, PySpark, or other tools beneficial.
