About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Specialist to join our team at BMO. As a key member of our Corporate Treasury team, you will be responsible for managing and mitigating liquidity and funding risks across the bank's balance sheet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with businesses and finance teams to evaluate the impact of stress scenarios on the bank's balance sheet, funding capability, and liquidity position.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of liquidity stress testing programs, addressing issues and implementing enhancements.
  • Participate in enhancement projects to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and control of stress testing programs.
  • Recommend and implement liquidity and funding solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Support the development and execution of the bank's liquidity and funding risk management strategy.
  • Develop and maintain processes to identify, measure, and manage liquidity and funding risks.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business groups on liquidity and funding matters.
  • Develop and maintain the model and assumption framework used to measure liquidity and funding risk.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making and understand risk drivers.
  • Recommend and implement solutions based on risk assessments, analysis of issues, and implications for the business.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders to align agendas and ensure a clear understanding of the business context.
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of liquidity and funding risk modeling activities and programs.
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and streamlined reporting.
  • Monitor and track balance sheet usage and address any issues.
Requirements
  • Typically between 5-7 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency of financial products gained through extensive education and/or business experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in financial modeling, including Excel, PowerBI, and SQL. SAS, R, Python, PySpark, or other tools beneficial.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
