Project Coordinator Job Description

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled Project Coordinator to join our Major Projects East Civil Infrastructure division. As a key member of our project team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects.

As a Project Coordinator, you will work under the guidance of a Project/Construction Manager, Superintendent, or appointed designate. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in developing and maintaining project schedules, managing labour, customer relations, engineering, contract management, project controls, change management, and more.
  • Coordinating with project management to ensure project milestones are met and schedules are adjusted as needed.
  • Identifying changes to the project schedule and its impacts, including contract implications.
  • Coordinating project labour requirements and coordinating with trades and subcontractors.
  • Preparing and delivering project deliverables, such as design documents and as-built drawings.
  • Reviewing project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinating technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Evaluating and recommending design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Providing project status reports to customers, project teams, and management.
  • Forecasting and tracking change orders and scope changes.
  • Assisting with safety programs and statistics as required.
  • Writing and reviewing purchase specifications and subcontract documents.
  • Providing estimating and project management backup as required.
  • Developing and writing reports and business correspondence.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary school education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines, or an acceptable combination of education and previous experience.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Project Coordinator or equivalent role, ideally in project engineering or heavy construction environment.
  • Proficiency in software related to the construction industry, such as Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, and SAP.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Mobility is essential, and you must be willing to travel to project locations and work a flexible schedule.
