Office Administrator

We operate a large forward thinking Scandinavian style Forest School and Nursery where children learn and explore both indoors and outdoors within natural environments.
As our Forest School is developing and growing, we are seeking an organised and efficient Office Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support and ensuring efficient office operations.
We require all applicants to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in an administration role.
Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the leadership of our Finance Manager, the successful candidate will support the running of all Nursery administration and Human Resources. We use electronic systems for staff and children records, for which full training will be provided. Working hours are 8.30-17.30 (with 1 hour lunch break), Monday-Friday (40 hours per week).
- The ability to update our HR database, for example, organising staff appraisals, supervisions and training.
- Be able to enter data as required, for example, inputting weekly staff shifts onto electronic system, inputting child details etc.
- Perform general clerical duties including photocopying, scanning, and filing.
- Answer and direct phone calls, with excellent phone etiquette.
- Manage office supplies and place orders when necessary.
- Displays a mature attitude and able to work well as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including in person, by telephone, in writing or electronically.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A commitment to providing a responsive and supportive service and a willingness to constantly seek and embrace new ways of improving the service provided by the Nursery.
- Excellent ICT skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Sway and Outlook or the ability to obtain these via training and support.
- Understanding the need to maintain an exceptionally high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times (both at work and in their private life).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Understanding of good management practices and the policies, procedures and systems to support these.
- Highly organised and able to prioritise tasks and follow through to completion.
- Evidence of the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Evidence of an understanding and commitment to Equal Opportunities both in service delivery and employment, and an understanding of its effective operation within a Forest School and Day Nursery.
- Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of punctuality and flexibility.
- Ability to work effectively and skilfully within a team as well as individually with minimal supervision together with sound professional judgement on effectively using initiative.
At all times to carry out the responsibilities and duties described above with due regard to Nursery policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Safeguarding Children, Confidentiality, Data Protection and Equal Opportunities.
