Our client, an Electronic Manufacturer for Air Emissions Measurement, is looking for a Production/Factory Manager to join their engineering and manufacturing team in Calgary, AB. In this role, you will be crucial in developing and leading a rapidly growing environmental manufacturing group. You will collaborate with the Product Development, Research, and Business Development teams. Your responsibilities will include defining manufacturing requirements, designing process flows, optimizing production, establishing procurement protocols, setting up quality management processes, and hiring the production team as the company expands over the coming years. You will also lead the Product Development team to streamline production and maximize quality product output. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working closely with supply chain partners to establish quality criteria, pricing breaks and delivery schedules.


Responsibilities:


  • Learn current products and how they’re currently fabricated.
  • Participate in product fabrication for the first production run, then assist in hiring training and managing production technicians.
  • Manage supply chain for the first several productions runs then assist in hiring a procurement specialist.
  • Develop complete, capable, dock-to-dock manufacturing solutions including Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEAs, Control Plans, Plans for Every Part, and other PPAP deliverables (coordinating with different functional groups if required to implement).
  • Design, build, and validate assembly fixtures and jigs.
  • Analyze new product designs through a Design for Assembly (DFA) lens and working collaboratively with Product Development Engineers and Production Operators to improve manufacturability of new products.
  • Conduct Prototype and Pilot builds to validate new assembly processes; using data from these builds to solve issues with assembly and product designs.
  • Work collaboratively with Suppliers and Product Development Engineers to analyze custom parts through a Design for Manufacturability (DFM) lens and ensuring Supplier capabilities meet or exceed custom part design requirements; Performing First Article Inspections.
  • Work with our Manufacturing Support team to address challenges and improvements.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement in assembly, design, and work processes by applying Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Automation to select and validate new capabilities and equipment; contributing to developing a roadmap for manufacturing.


Requirements:

  • Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree or Diploma combined with 8+ years’ experience high tech electronic manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing process development experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership/ management experience.
  • Previous experience setting up from grass roots and running a Production line / Factory
  • Mechanical design and validation experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to use data to influence and drive decisions.
  • Able to build relationships and work cross-functionally and collaboratively with others.
  • Participant leadership style and desire to “roll up your sleeves” and work with the production/ engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and presenting of reports and process documents.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, 3D modelling…)
