PureChem Services, the Canadian production chemical division of CES Energy Solutions, is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and organized individual to fill the position of Logistics Manager. This full-time, diverse position is located in Calgary, Alberta and reports directly to the Supply Chain Director, Canada.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and manage annual logistics budget for all divisions.
  • Provide quarterly analysis and review logistics expenses against the budget and establish tracking metrics.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of freight rates and expenditures and implement processes to reduce overall logistics costs through optimization.
  • Establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, including ongoing analysis of freight rates, carrier/supplier selection, optimal routing, and vendor management.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance/KPI metrics for all service providers.
  • Develop annual freight strategy, prepare RFPs/RFQs as deemed necessary and conduct rate and service negotiations with current and potential service providers. Negotiate and manage contracts post-bid award.
  • Manage customs brokerage relationships. Oversee HS Classification and USCMA audits for manufactured products.
  • Prepare and/or review export and import paperwork and documentation. Including Commercial invoices, Packing lists, DG declarations and certificates of origin.
  • Subject matter expert on all logistics and international trade aspects. Continuous monitoring of market conditions, including supply and demand issues or concerns that can impact the continuous flow of materials to different sites. Stay up to date on news, market trends and global events monthly update to managers and peers.
  • Other duties as required.


Necessary qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of direct work experience in a logistics and/or freight forwarding function, with 1-2 years minimum direct experience as a manager or supervisor.
  • Bachelor's degree or post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business Management or Logistics; or a combination of post-secondary education and professional experience.
  • CCLP or CIFFA designations, preferably. CCS Designations or a strong knowledge of Customs Regulations and Tariff classification will be a strong asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities. The ability to lead, drive and inspire. Able to drive continuous improvement aiming to challenge the status quo.
  • Logistics subject matter expertise, superior planning/organizing skills, strategic thinking, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the business.
  • Exhibits strong personal values, integrity, and solid business acumen.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the corporation and vendors.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with conflicting resources and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced growing organization is key to this role.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, MS Office, and Power BI, as well as the ability to learn new computer applications as needed.
