POSITION SUMMARY:

As UFA continues to invest in new and existing markets, we are building a team focused on delivery of large growth capital projects. As part of this team, this new Capital Project Manager will be on the forefront of the organization’s growth.


Reporting into the Sr. Manager, Capital Projects Implementation, the Capital Project Manager is responsible for the successful implementation of capital projects across UFA’s lines of business. This role will be the overall project manager responsible for these projects. The scope of projects will include large greenfield and brownfield capital site builds. This role will be assigned large-scale growth and business sustainment projects that have high technical and/or organizational complexity, typically with implementation costs exceeding $5 million.


Our successful candidate for this role will combine strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on process and accountability.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Recommend workstream prioritization to support implementing strategy
  • Present summary project plans and report progress and key metrics to senior executives.
  • Establish clarity of project purpose and obligations by defining project objectives, scope, and deliverables with the project sponsor.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as the engineering group’s Construction Project Managers, IT project managers, regional operations management, marketing, real estate, and business unit management on these capital projects to build out and update capital budgets, timelines, and commissioning requirements.
  • Coordinate and support the project team. Gain and sustain stakeholder engagement, understanding, and buy-in. Establish the roles and responsibilities of the team and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Set up communication methods so that needed information is efficiently shared to all affected stakeholders and the team and organization can effectively support the project. Produce status reports defining project progress.
  • Execute the project by coordinating people and resources, managing stakeholder expectations, and integrating and performing the activities of the project in accordance with the project management plan. Manage to scope, cost, quality and schedule constraints by monitoring and controlling product and project deliverables and modifying the plan as necessary. Efforts include tracking, reviewing, reporting, and acting to manage progress and performance.
  • Manage project changes, issues, risks and decisions. Identify issues and document solution options, facilitate issue resolution, and escalate issues to the appropriate stakeholders. Record key decisions. Identify risks and risk mitigation strategies. Ensure that all stakeholders are appropriately involved in project decisions.
  • Interface with project stakeholders and executive sponsors, applying exceptional leadership skills to remove obstacles and resolve conflicts.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/commerce, or related field.
  • PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • 10 years’ experience leading projects; 5 years leading complex projects.
  • Skilled experience in risk, issue, decision, and change management.
  • Highly proficient with project management software (MS Project), tools, and techniques.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership skills managing diverse disciplines and teams.
