Overview:

The General Manager is responsible for partnering with other members of the restaurant leadership team to ensure the restaurant operates in a way that creates a superior guest and employee experience while growing sales and increasing profitability. The General Manager has specific accountabilities for ensuring the restaurant’s service systems are operating effectively while providing shift leadership to all restaurant employees.


Key Responsibilities:

Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate a diverse team of restaurant staff.

Set performance expectations, provide coaching, and conduct regular evaluations.

Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth.

Lead by example and promote a culture of exceptional customer service.


Operations Management:

Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling guidelines, and company policies.

Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize efficiency and productivity.

Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships to maintain stock availability while minimizing costs.

Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure smooth food preparation, timely service, and high-quality culinary offerings.


Customer Service and Satisfaction:

Focus on delivering an exceptional dining experience by maintaining high standards of customer service.

Interact with customers, address inquiries or complaints promptly, and ensure their satisfaction.

Monitor customer feedback, reviews, and ratings, taking appropriate actions to enhance customer loyalty and drive repeat business.


Financial Performance:

Assist in developing and executing business strategies to achieve revenue and profitability goals.

Analyze financial reports, such as sales figures, expenses, and budgets, and take necessary actions to optimize performance.

Implement cost-control measures to manage labour costs, food waste, and other operational expenses.

Conduct regular financial audits and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.


Marketing and Promotions:

Collaborate with the marketing team to create and execute effective promotional campaigns.

Stay updated with market trends, competition, and customer preferences to identify growth opportunities.

Engage with the local community, build relationships, and explore partnerships to drive brand awareness and customer acquisition.


Qualifications:

Previous experience in a managerial role within the restaurant industry is required.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Solid understanding of restaurant operations, including food preparation, service, and safety standards.

Financial acumen to analyze financial reports, develop budgets, and manage costs effectively.

Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Familiarity with restaurant management/POS software, such as OpenTable

Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
