Goodness Me is currently seeking an experienced and customer-focused, full-time Fresh Foods Department Manager (Dairy/Meat/Cheese) for our Hamilton - Upper Gage store location.

Reporting to the Store Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing daily operations of the Fresh Foods Department (Dairy/Meat/Cheese), with a focus on sales, labour, and waste targets. This department handles only prepackaged fresh meats with no butchery done onsite at Goodness Me.

Other duties and tasks may include:

  • Interviewing and onboarding new team members
  • Monitoring and evaluating team members' performance including executing performance management conversations.
  • Assisting in rolling out new policies and ensuring that team members are compliant.
  • Motivating and inspiring team members and facilitating personal growth.
  • Ensuring high levels of productivity are maintained.
  • Maintaining a high level of product and service knowledge.
  • Participating in merchandising and promotional activities.
  • Assisting with inventory management.
  • Ensuring store conditions are consistently upheld to established standards.

What you bring:

  • 3-5 years of management experience
  • Experience in maintaining operational excellence in retail stores (payroll, shrink and inventory management, etc)
  • A solid understanding of sales forecasts for establishing key targets for the department
  • A strong work ethic and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Ability to work primarily daytime shifts, with evening/weekend availability
