Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department at Farm Boy Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all objectives and goals of the department and store are met and/or exceeded.

Main Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and support Farm Boy's vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Team Development: Work with the Store Manager and the Front-End Specialist to execute strategies aimed at successfully accomplishing stated goals and quotas while monitoring systems, programs, and initiatives.
  • Staff Management: Team development, interviewing, training, reviews, coaching, motivation, and recognition, all while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and trust.
  • Communication: Consistent and effective communication to lead the service team, including one-on-one coaching, metrics, product identification (codes), and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Financial Management: Safeguard Farm Boy's financial information, safe management, document maintenance, and retention, and preserve the integrity of individual front-end staff.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Government regulations and Corporate Health and Safety policies.
  • Store Operations: Participate in store coverage rotation as a Manager on Duty, including opening and closing the store, alarm system emergency contact support.
  • Department Supervision: Supervise department staff and be accountable for the performance of the department, including serving customers on cash, cart retrieval, overrides, and general cleanliness.
  • Staff Scheduling: Schedule staff and verify attendance and payroll records.
  • Floral Department Management: Responsible for the management of the Floral Department, including merchandising, ordering, inventory, and financials.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve plus Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, accurate mathematical and analytical skills, clear and effective communication style, both written and oral, good judgment and decision-making abilities, ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools, skilled at working in a fast-paced environment, flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Language: Fluency in English and French shall be considered an asset.
Work and Sensory Environment
  • Work Environment: Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Physical Demands: Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift, required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
