Our mental health program provides a broad range of services in schools and the community as well as day treatment programs and inpatient care when needed.

A Social Worker is required for the CHEO Eating Disorders Program.

The Social Worker will be part of an interdisciplinary team offering services to children and youth who have severe eating disorders.

The Eating Disorders program includes an inpatient unit, a new partial hospitalization program, a day treatment program, and outpatient services.


The Social Worker will be a member of the CHEO Discipline of Social Work and will participate in the Social Work Coverage Model.- Provides therapeutic intervention to individuals, families and groups using empirically-support modalities, including Family Based Therapy (FBT) and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).- Provides consultation/liaison with the multidisciplinary pediatric health-care environment and community professionals.- Participates in interdisciplinary team rounds and case planning.- Advocates on behalf of families with respect to services and supports and coordinates community resources.- Maintains current knowledge on social work evidence-based practice by such methods as reviewing literature, consulting with clinical and community experts in the field, evaluating clinical practices and participating in professional development activities in order to improve care through new practices.- Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining clinical documentation, progress notes, workload statistics and updating health records in accordance with established standards.- Participates in and supports program outcome monitoring and clinical research activities.- Engages in training and education of Social Work students and other health professionals.- Carries other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS- Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)- M.S.W. graduate from an accredited university program in Social Work (preferred)- B.S.W. graduate will be considered if other qualifications are met (Essential)- Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and broad knowledge of Social Work theory, practice and regulations established by the College (Essential)- Minimum of 2 years' experience in mental health within community-based or a hospital setting (Essential)- Experience assessing and treating children and youth presenting with severe eating disorder (preferred)- Experience with group and family therapy (Essential)- Ability to work in a high paced interdisciplinary team (Essential)- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work (Essential)- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals (Essential)- Bilingual - Fluency in both French and English (preferred)
