Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a Student Assistant (Student Worker) for a casual appointment opportunity with our Student Life department. Reporting to the Manager, Student Success, you will assist with the day-to-day processes and procedures of the Welcome Centre, located in the heart of MacEwan University in Building 7, and will serve as a first point of contact and source of information for all visitors and stakeholders, ensuring a positive, welcoming, and informative experience for individuals entering the University and for students throughout their educational journey.

Key responsibilities include:

Greeting future students, guests and visitors to MacEwan University and connecting them with appropriate support services, executive offices, schools, faculties, and departments;  Assisting with the coordination and the scheduling of campus tours, including working with the MacEwan Tour Guides, MacEwan Ambassadors, and conducting campus tours; Assisting with the recruitment, training, and coordination of the Campus Tour Guide Program;  Establishing and maintaining communication with students through email, telephone, and social media channels (, Facebook, Discord, Instagram); Assisting with basic graphic design projects using Canva; and Providing administrative support for events and initiatives.

Skills

You will have:

Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills; Excellent organizational skills Leadership, problem-solving, and professionalism skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications; Proficiency with social media platforms; and Basic graphic design skills.

Qualifications

Strong customer service experience. Experience in public speaking would be considered an asset. Experience using Canva would be considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Position Requirements

Current student at MacEwan University, entering your second or subsequent year. Beginning on June 3rd, 2024, to August 30th, 2024, this appointment will require full-time hours (35 hours per week). Subsequently, from September 1st, 2024, to March 31st, 2025, this appointment will transition to a part-time role, with a commitment of 15 hours per week.
