**Working for the Department**

The Dean of Students' Office supports all students in the pursuit of their academic success. We collaborate with faculties, offices, and services to deliver effective programming and providing leadership on university policies and initiatives for our students. The Learning Strategies Unit within this office provides professional academic strategies instruction to students in all university programs and at all levels. We accomplish this through the engagement of industry-best learning strategies, through empathy and understanding of our customer base, and as we adapt to our students' academic program requirements, inter-sectional identities, and educational and cultural backgrounds. We care about and want to support our students in what they need to be successful.

**Position**

Reporting to the Director of Learning Strategies, the Program Assistant is responsible for a variety of administrative activities and program support for: Fresh Start, Football Study Hall, OT Student placements, Campus St. Jean and First Peoples' House and others. Further responsibilities include support for learning, communication, and writing strategists. The Program Assistant supports the development and preparation of instructional and program materials, coordinates the registration process for these and other related appointments and events, and manages student communication for our various services. Further, the Program Assistant helps maintain operational efficiencies in a busy office environment.

This position is one of two Program Assistants in the Academic Success Centre and each Program Assistant provides back up support to the other Program Assistant.

**Duties**
- Helps coordinate, maintain and improve operational activities
- Through data tracking, manages and reports on student registration and appointment processes and participation (CampusBridge, e-Class)
- Responsible for workshop management, including calendar bookings, scheduling meetings, and other pre/post workshop activities and reporting
- Provides specific program coordination and support to our Football Study Hall and Fresh Start Programs
- An integral communicator of our unit and services to students, university staff, and other service providers and community members
- In consultation with the Director, develops and coordinates promotional materials (and website updates)

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field is required; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including problem assessment and process mapping skills with attention to details and deadlines
- Manages and prioritizes multiple tasks in a busy office environment

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Knowledge of U of A policies, processes, faculties, and services, including the Code of Student of Behaviour, HIAR, and FOIP
- Knowledge of the Dean of Students, specifically the Academic Success Centre and the services we provide
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a post-secondary administrative environment
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or related experience working with various customer-based projects
- Graduate studies experience and/or degree.
