LOCATION

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. ROLE OVERVIEW

The successful incumbent will meet the requirements of the position description for Registered Nurse Emergency Department/ICU and act as a team member with specific responsibility for performance of professional nursing care to a patient or group of patients as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BScN preferred Willing to complete an institutionally financed Critical Care Certificate course fulltime within 12 months of hire with a 2-year commitment to Northumberland Hills Hospital NENA triage certificate preferred NRP certified or must obtain within 9 months PALS certified or must obtain within 9 months BLS certified or must obtain within 9 months ACLS certified or must obtain within 9 months TNCC and ENPC preferred Previous experience in a critical care or emergency setting, 2 years preferred Minimum 2 years Medical surgical experience Demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips and utilize ACLS drugs (tested) Demonstrated ability to use crisis prevention intervention (cpi) Applicant has a demonstrated understanding of Northumberland Hills Hospital’s Mission, Vision and Values. Applicant has a demonstrated understanding of ‘Person-and-Family-Centered’ Model of Care. Ability to work in an active, rapidly changing, stressful environment with multiple demands. Ability to make decisions and prioritize workload and demands effectively. Ability to focus on complex instructions and tasks in an environment with many distractions. Intense visual concentration required for processing practitioners’ orders, carrying out medication administration routines and interpreting electronic physiological monitoring equipment. Physical ability to lift, pull, push, carry, reach, and physically support patients with assistance, as required. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with repetitive bending. RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

Relocation Incentive:

Reimbursement of a one-off instalment of up to $3,000 towards relocation costs for within the province healthcare professionals new to NHH and successful in filling high need vacancies. Canada Student Loan Forgiveness:

To be eligible for Canada Studen Loan Forgiveness you must have:

started your current employment (full-time, part-time or casual) as an eligible medical professional (family doctor, resident in family medicine, nurse practitioner, or nurse) in an on or after July 1, 2011 been employed for a full year (12 consecutive months) in an under-served rural or remote community (this does not apply to residents in family medicine) provided in-person services for a minimum of 400 hours in that community a Canada Student Loan that is in good standing. Note: You can apply for Canada Student Loan forgiveness for family doctors and nurses if you are enrolled in full-time or part-time studies, are currently repaying your student loan, or are in your 6-month non-repayment period. If your Canada Student Loan is in repayment, you must continue to make your regular monthly payments. If you qualify, you could receive up to $20,000 in Canada Student Loan forgiveness over a maximum of five years ($4,000 per year).

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
