Position Overview
Do you enjoy working with multiple teams to bring projects to completion from beginning to end? Are you a problem-solver with superb organizational skills?
As our Project Manager of our Vegetation Management program, you will work closely with operations, other project managers, and contractors to improve build and execute our vegetation management program from conception through to completion. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will work with internal and external resources to manage budgets and deadlines and achieve project objectives while challenging business practices to improve processes.
In this role, you will:
Utilize project management expertise to develop, implement, and manage projects and programs Work within budgets and deadlines to deliver projects on time Identify and communicate project status and changes to your stakeholders Co-ordinate and assign resources to meet project objectives Develop schedules, cost estimates, project execution plans, and risk management strategies Manage permit requirements, site construction, contract administration, stakeholder communications, and customer satisfaction Complete project closeout requirements Challenge the status quo and look for better ways to improve processesIn year 1, you will:
Acquire a solid understanding of the Company’s internal processes, standards, policies, and project management procedures Put your expertise and knowledge to work on projects Champion and promote the importance of safety Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders Schedule and organize resourcesIn year 2, you will:
Build on your knowledge gained during the project cycle Manage multiple projects, increasing in complexity Build and manage highly effective teams Continue to build and leverage relationships with stakeholders Identify and champion continuous improvements in how the Project Management Office does businessWhat it takes:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline from a recognized program plus 4-7 years’ project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation desired – willingness and ability to obtain designation required. Experience working in a regulated utility environment, natural resource management, forestry, arboriculture or as an arborist and/or technical knowledge related to vegetation management would be considered an asset. Knowledge of project management principles and methodology Knowledge of contract processes and contract management Knowledge of Electric transmission, distribution and substation utility systems Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and execute work on time and on budget Demonstrated ability to communicate project requirements and details to a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders internally and externally Demonstrated computer/MS Office/MS Project proficiency Willingness to travel, be in the field and support construction crewsOur engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse.
