Experienced Payroll and Benefits Specialist

We are looking to hire an experienced, detailed-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our Payroll team. This is a Permanent Full-time position based at our head office, located in Edmonton.This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll operations for multiple payrolls. This role requires a thorough understanding of payroll practices and compliance with all applicable employment and tax laws in Canada and Alberta specifically. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist must be able to align with the company’s core values: Commitment, Attitude and Respect. The key responsibilities include the following:
Key Responsibilities
Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for multiple companies within the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations and filings including CPP, EI, and income tax.Administer employee benefit plans (group insurance, accidental death insurance) including enrolment, revisions, terminations.Provide support for fiscal year-end reconciliation.Process yearly T4’s, bonuses and other allowances for the various payrolls when applicable.Maintain and update payroll and benefits records, including leave of absences, departures, deductions, and other payroll-related changes.Coordinate with HR and finance departments to ensure seamless payroll integration with other company processes.Handle employee queries related to payroll and benefits issues and provide accurate guidance.Prepare and submit detailed reports on payroll activities and discrepancies.Continuously improve processes and systems related to payroll administration. Provide support to the accounting department and management as requiredQualifications & Experience:
Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate would be beneficial.A minimum of five years Payroll experience is required.Must be competent in using computer software related to payroll and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with ADP Workforce Now would be considered an asset. Must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks and projects as needed.Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with high attention to detail.Must be able to demonstrate respectful and professional communication at all times.Why work for Fath?
