Description:

Accountable for all surface and underground projects. Responsible for planning, executing and safe delivery of all surface capital projects at the Barrick Hemlo site. Will define project requirements and scope, acquire project resources, and supervise the efforts of project team members including contractors. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to senior management. 

Responsibilities:

Safe execution of all surface capital projects by holding people accountable as required and taking the lead on investigations as required to identify root causes of all incidents identified. Strategic planning of all surface capital projects at Barrick Hemlo over the entire lifecycle of the project including long term planning, budgeting and LOM planning. Develop and implement comprehensive project plans for surface, processing, and tailings management. Conduct cost-benefit analyses, risk analyses, and ROI calculations to determine project feasibility. Coordinate with all departments and area managers to ensure project objectives and deliverables are met on schedule and budget, meeting the needs of the site. Manage project activities throughout lifecycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, budget, and other factors necessary for success. Organize project teams and guide the teams throughout their efforts to produce deliverables according to specification. Establish and maintain project tracking and reporting, communicating to stakeholders through meetings and presentations. Ensure Management of Change process is completed and followed. Reallocate resources across multiple projects where necessary; identify and resolve any resource allocation discrepancies. Closely monitor the efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists. Conduct project postmortems in order to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.

Qualifications:

/ in Engineering or technical field preferred but not necessary depending upon experience. At least 5-10 years of experience in the mining industry is required, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Management. Project Management Professional (PMP) training or certification  Proven track record in managing underground and surface mining projects including processing and tailings facilities.  Strong understanding of mining operations, mineral processing, and tailings management. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.  Willingness to relocate is preferred.
