The Opportunity

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking an experienced Electrical Foreman to join our team at the Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario. Hemlo is undergoing a targeted electrification project, establishing world-class operating practices on a large electrical and fibre system.

This role involves working a rotation of 14 shifts on / 14 shifts off, ideal for those residing outside the Hemlo Operations area. Shifts are continuous day shifts.

Reporting to the Barminco Project Manager and Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and that of their co-workers, as well as the day-to-day activities of the mine electricians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with all safety and standard operating procedures and ensure crews are also in compliance.
  • Direct underground electricians and provide guidance for daily tasks.
  • Support the mining group to minimize equipment downtime and ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining underground tele-remoting with scoops, as well as surface tele-remoting operations.
  • Contribute to the installation of Sandvik Multilite operations across the mine.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to develop/improve performance.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Superintendent to manage costs and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with client counterparts on various projects throughout the mine.
  • Assist in electrical reticulation design for operating levels, installing splitter boxes, PTOs, pump starters, etc.
Requirements
  • A commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others.
  • Ontario Provincial Trade License or Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) certification.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience working in an underground mine.
  • Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience working with high-voltage electric mining equipment and underground electrical reticulation.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and Ontario Provincial Electrical Code, as well as CSA M421-00 codes related to underground mining.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while being a contributing member of a team.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
