About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support to our site maintenance groups. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Senior Mechanical Engineer in a mentorship program to review site drawings, assist in mechanical/structural reviews, and participate in site investigations and evaluations.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to site maintenance groups, including reviewing site drawings, assisting in mechanical/structural reviews, and participating in site investigations and evaluations.
  • Maintenance Planning: Work closely with Maintenance Planners to streamline the weekly maintenance workflow and assist with the continuous improvement of maintenance strategy.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Track and review planned/unplanned downtime and assist with Root Cause analysis for failure of equipment major components and any losses to process/production.
  • Criticality Assessment: Participate in the criticality assessment review for key assets and develop this process to align with Corporate and industry best practices.
  • Management of Change: Support the Plant Department with the Management of Change associated with maintenance procedures, materials, and acquisition of new equipment.
  • Budgeting and Cost Reporting: Provide support to other maintenance staff for maintenance budgeting, cost reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Supply Chain Management: Work with the Supply Team to identify critical spares and streamline the procurement/stocking of replacement parts.
  • Best Practices: Facilitate the sharing of best practices between maintenance groups across site and work towards facility-wide commonality of maintenance strategies.
  • Engineering Duties: Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical/engineering support to other maintenance staff as required.
  • Safety and Compliance: Participate in development, implementation, and adherence to safe work procedures and promote high safety, health, and environmental awareness and compliance to all standards.
  • Goal Setting: Support development of the department's annual execution plan and develop area-specific goals and objectives.
  • AFE Preparation: Prepare AFEs as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Mechanical/Civil/Industrial Engineering or relevant experience.
  • Experience: Preferably 5 to 7 years of practical engineering experience working in mining or other industrial fields.
  • Registration: Working towards registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Software Skills: Experience with SAP or other electronic Enterprise Asset Management systems, as well as MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Deswik.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong attention to detail. Demonstrates high levels of initiative and preferably has a history successfully implementing change. Strong prioritization, organization, and reasoning skills. Ability to self-direct and work well within a team.
