The Opportunity:
HUB International continues to grow, and we are looking for an Associate Consultant to work with organizations of all sizes and industries across Canada. Leveraging your expertise in absence and disability management, you will assist, execute, and when appropriate, lead mandates, making recommendations on a wide range of programs and strategies. This role also involves supporting colleagues with more complex consulting strategies under Health & Performance within our Employee Benefits Consulting Practice.
This is a dynamic role that requires strong teamwork, technical skills, and a commitment to service excellence.
A day in the life:
You will work directly with clients to lead and execute absence and disability management consulting mandates and provide support with tasks including:
Utilize in-depth knowledge of disability management processes and best practices.
Interpret and analyze complex disability contracts.
Assist senior colleagues on more complex, larger-scale consulting strategies and mandates.
Develop and implement tools for disability management consulting.
Assist clients in improving their absence and disability management documentation and governance.
Implement best practices and monitor program performance.
Mentor clients and colleagues, providing guidance on complex disability claims scenarios.
Assist in conducting process, policy, and claims audits.
Manage small to medium-sized projects from start to finish with a strategic mindset.
Analyze multiple data sets and develop actionable strategies and/or operational efficiencies.
Communicate effectively with clients via virtual meetings, emails, and in-person sessions.
Facilitate client meetings, create agendas, document notes, and follow through on action items.
Keep projects on track to meet client objectives.
Develop tools and templates to streamline processes internally.
Prepare client-facing reports and presentations.
Collaborate with vendors and insurance carriers to execute targeted programs.
Maintain and update client files within our internal network.
Work collaboratively with the national team on client projects.
Conduct industry research on absence and disability management trends.
Peer review and provide feedback on team documents.
Assist with special projects as required.
Who you are:
3-5 years of experience in case management within insurance or a third-party provider.
Proven experience in case management, particularly with STD, LTD, and salary continuance.
A bachelor's degree in a related field.
Strong analytical, creative, strategic, and integrative skills.
Advanced data analysis and interpretation capabilities, with the ability to derive actionable insights.
Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
Ability to deliver high-quality client work efficiently and accurately.
Proficient in presentation delivery.
Excellent time management, prioritization, and project management skills.
Growth-oriented mindset, open to feedback and ongoing development.
Adaptability and quick learning in a changing organization.
Excellent customer service skills with clients, vendors, and insurers.
Knowledge of the latest trends in absence and disability management.
Problem-solving skills with a proactive and positive approach.
Polished written and verbal communication skills.
Strong teamwork abilities and self-motivation.
Proficient in computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook).
Other qualifications:
Certifications in disability management, such as Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP)
Experience in benefits management.
Mental health, psychological safety, or insurance education/training certificates.
Knowledge of human resources, CNESST, other Workers' Compensation Boards, and occupational claims management.
