Head Chef responsibilities at Paul Bakery include studying recipes, setting up menus and preparing high-quality dishes. Head Chef should be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner, according to recipes, brand direction and food-safe regulations.

Paul's first Canadian location is in Downtown Vancouver.

Paul's head chef RESPONSIBILITIES are:

  • Be in charge of managing and training kitchen staff
  • Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients, re-write recipes to include all potential hazards and allergic reactions
  • Construct menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the variety and quality of the servings
  • Suggest menus that match the Vancouver market taste
  • Cook food in a timely manner
  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff and train them to learn the recipes, procedures and food safety and COVID-19 specific measures
  • Inform wait staff about daily specials
  • Ensure appealing plate presentation
  • Supervise Cooks and assist as needed
  • Monitor food stock and place orders
  • Manage relationships with distributors and resolve issues with vendors promptly
  • Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
  • Cost control check of each and every recipe and ingredients
  • Pricing each menu item based on competitor pricing and cost analysis considering food and labour costs
  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
  • Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
  • Create and inspect dishes before they arrive at the customers ensuring high quality and contentment

REQUIRMENTS

  • Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
  • Exceptional proven ability of management
  • Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
  • Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g. grillers and pasta makers)
  • Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
  • Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
  • Familiarity with sanitation regulations and Credentials in health and safety training
  • Culinary school diploma preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
