Caribou Electric is currently seeking two (2) Field & Shop Technicians to join our Operations team This position involves the inspection, repair, and rebuilding or electric motors, generators, and related equipment - both in the field and in the shop. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, safety awareness, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality service.

In this role, you will:

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair electric motors, generators, and related equipment.
  • Support both field service operations and shop-based rebuilds.
  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly or mechanical and electrical components.
  • Maintain accurate service records and assist with parts handling, restocking, and shipping/receiving.
  • Operate shop tools and equipment (forklifts, hoists, cranes, and power tools) safely and efficiently.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in AC/DC motor or generator repair.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely
  • Proficient computer skills (emails, service reports, MS Word, inventory systems).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.

Preferred

  • Millwright or Journeyman Electrician certification (Apprentices welcome to apply)
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and diagnostics
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Working Conditions

  • Shop and field environments, including travel to customer sites
  • Exposure to industrial equipment, electrical systems, and mechanical components
  • Requires PPE and adherence to safety standards at all times
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
